The day the last Sunday in the Chorrillo was very productive, both in quantity and quality. The team ended up exhausted after banding 176 birds of 14 species.
chiffchaff banding Sunday
worth noting the self-recovery of two blackcaps banded in the same station, one in October 2006 and again in October 2007. Interesting data, because this species is overwintering and have never been captured as breeders in the area. It is likely question of birds from northern Europe to use the area during their migrations, implemented around these dates.
The photos below show the tail and the wing of a juvenile robin observed in calls growth bars, horizontal bands that stand out from the rest of the plumage by color, generally more degraded. Is an indicator that the bird has been eating irregularly and, in some stage of their growth in the nest, nutrition was poor.
